We are currently living in a golden age for cannabis research, with more cannabis-focused scientific research being conducted now across the globe than ever before. Several things are contributing to the rise in cannabis research, including policy modernizations in many jurisdictions and the continued expansion of the international cannabis industry.
Cannabinoid research was a hot topic at the recent International Cannabis Business Conference in Berlin and the focus of a panel discussion dedicated to the topic. The panel brought together a diverse group of experts, including plant scientists, biochemists, and R&D leaders from the private sector, who delved into recent cannabis research spanning agronomy, biochemistry, pharmacology, materials science, and healthcare.
The discussion examined how interdisciplinary collaboration can drive innovation and ensure scientific integrity, which, in turn, can lead to real-world applications, support the development of research-based businesses, and contribute to improved public health internationally. The panel was moderated by Canadian medical cannabis pioneer Alex Revich. He was joined by:
- Israel Gasperin – CEO, Zentrela
- Dr. Jean Claude Scicluna – Freelance Medical Consultant, Blue Mediterranean Advisory
- Božidar Radišic – Activist; Project Manager and Founder, Research Nature Institute; Co-Founder, Martiangrow; Chief Scientific Officer and Mission Director
- Shawn Katz – CEO & Co-founder of Eybna
