LEGAL CANNABIS DOES NOT EQUAL CLEAN CANNABIS: CHALLENGING THE INDUSTRY TO HIGHER STANDARDS – This year marks a New Cannabis Era in California, but legal cannabis does not equal clean cannabis. New regulations require product testing for specific pesticides, but pesticides and other contaminants will continue to be an issue because brands can exhaust inventory that does not meet the newly set standards for purity until mid-year. Although stringent, California’s regulations still leave too many opportunities for contaminated cannabis to fall into the hands of consumers even after the grace period for unregulated inventory has expired.
